‘বর্ষায় গঙ্গার ভাঙনে বিপুল ক্ষতি হয় মালদহ, মুর্শিদাবাদে’, সাহায্য চেয়ে প্রধানমন্ত্রীকে চিঠি অধীরের

প্রতিবছর বর্ষার দাপটে ভেঙে যায় গঙ্গার বাঁধ। মালদহ, মুর্শিদাবাদের মত জেলা প্রতিবছর দেখে গঙ্গার বিধ্বংসী রূপ। জেলায় জেলায় আবারও একবার এই সমস্যা যাতে না হয়, তার জন্য প্রধানমন্ত্রীর দ্বারস্থ হলেন কংগ্রেস সাংসদ অধীর রঞ্জন চৌধুরী। শনিবার এই প্রসঙ্গে নরেন্দ্র মোদিকে একটি চিঠি লিখেছিলেন অধীরবাবু। চিঠিতে প্রতিবছর বর্ষায় মালদহ ও মুর্শিদাবাদের কি অবস্থা হয়, সেটির বিস্তারিত বিবরণ দিয়েছেন তিনি। প্রতিবছর মানুষের দুরাবস্থার কথা জানিয়ে প্রধানমন্ত্রীর কাছে সাহায্য চেয়েছেন তিনি।
চিঠিতে অধীর বাবু লিখেছেন, প্রতিবছর মালদহের ফারাক্কা ব্যারেজ থেকে মুর্শিদাবাদের জলঙ্গি পর্যন্ত ১৪ কিলোমিটার এলাকা গঙ্গা নদীর ভাঙ্গনে ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত হয়ে যাচ্ছে। উর্বর জমির বড় বড় চাই ভেঙে গিয়ে গঙ্গার তলায় তলিয়ে যাচ্ছে। জমির পাশাপাশি নদী তীরবর্তী এলাকার মানুষ প্রতি বছর ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত হচ্ছেন। গঙ্গার ভাঙনের দাপটে এইভাবে প্রতিবছর সবকিছু হারিয়ে বাংলার মানুষকে চলে যেতে হচ্ছে গুজরাত ও মহারাষ্ট্রের মত রাজ্যগুলিতে।
চিঠিতে তিনি আরও লিখেছেন, বাংলা থেকে নদীর ভাঙ্গনে প্রতিবছর সবকিছু হারিয়ে যে সমস্ত মানুষ চলে যায় মহারাষ্ট্রের মত রাজ্যে, সেই সমস্ত মানুষ সেখানে গিয়ে আস্ত একটি কলোনি তৈরি করে ফেলেছেন। মুম্বাইতে আশ্রয় নেওয়া সেই সব মানুষগুলির কাছে কোন নথিপত্র নেই। তাঁদের মাঝে মাঝে বাংলাদেশি উদ্বাস্তু বলে ডাকা হয়। অবিলম্বে এই বিষয়ে আপনার দৃষ্টি আকর্ষণ করতে চাই। মুর্শিদাবাদে করোনা আক্রান্তদের জন্য একটি হাসপাতাল তৈরি করার বিষয় নিয়ে কিছু দিন আগেই প্রধানমন্ত্রী সঙ্গে কথা বলেন অধীর রঞ্জন চৌধুরী।
