অক্সফোর্ড বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় মঙ্গলবার জানিয়েছে যে তারা ভারতীয় ছাত্র রশ্মি সামন্তের সাইবার বুলিং মামলার তদন্ত শুরু করেছে। বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় ছাত্র ইউনিয়নের প্রথম ভারতীয় মহিলা সভাপতি হয়ে রশ্মি এই অভিযোগ করেন। এর আগে করা একটি সামাজিক যোগাযোগ মাধ্যম পোস্ট নিয়ে বিতর্ক সৃষ্টি হওয়ার পরে তিনি পদ থেকে পদত্যাগ করেছেন।
তদন্তে ডঃ অভিজিৎ সরকার নামের এক ব্যক্তির ইনস্টাগ্রাম আইডি থেকে পোস্ট করা রশ্মির পরিবারের একটি ছবিও অন্তর্ভুক্ত রয়েছে। ডঃ সরকার এখানকার একজন গবেষক। এই ছবিতে হিন্দু ধর্ম ও কর্ণাটককে ইসলামবিরোধী শক্তির শক্ত ঘাঁটি হিসাবে বর্ণনা করে রশ্মি মন্তব্য করেন। বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের একজন মুখপাত্র বলেছেন যে অনুরূপ মন্তব্য সহ পোস্টগুলি তদন্তের আওতায় নেওয়া হয়েছে।
হিন্দু সংগঠনগুলি পুলিশ রিপোর্টও দায়ের করেছে:

অভিযোগে বলা হয় ভারতীয়দের একটি ভুল চিত্র তৈরি করার চেষ্টা করা হচ্ছে, যারা এটি করছে তাদের উচিত ক্ষমা চাওয়া। এটি ঘৃণা ছড়ানোর মতো অপরাধের আওতায় নথিবদ্ধ করা হয়। থেমস ভ্যালি পুলিশ অভিযোগ খতিয়ে দেখছে।
