প্রানের খোঁজে মঙ্গলে সফল অবতরন নাসার রোভারের, ইতিহাস তৈরিতে ২ বাঙালি ও ২ ভারতীয় বংশোদ্ভূতের অবদান
সাত মাসের চেষ্টায় ঐতিহাসিক সাফল্য অর্জন নাসার। ভারতীয় সময় অনুযায়ী ১৮ই ফ্রেব্রুয়ারি ২.২৫ মিনিটে মঙ্গল গ্রহের ‘জেজোরো ক্রেটার’ এলাকায় সফলভাবে অবতরন করে নাসার মহাকাশযান 'পারসিভিয়ারেন্স রোভার'। এরপরই মঙ্গল গ্রহের ছবি উঠে আসে গোটা বিশ্বের দরবারে। মঙ্গল গ্রহের প্রথম ছবিটি ট্যুইট করে নাসা জানিয়েছে, “Hello, world. My first look at my forever home.” মঙ্গল গ্রহের প্রানের খোঁজ চালাতেই পারসিভিয়ারেন্স রোভার' যাত্রা করে লাল গ্রহে।

পাশাপাশি, মঙ্গলের মাটির মধ্যে কি কি উপাদান রয়েছে, সেটি নিয়েও পরীক্ষা নিরীক্ষা চালাবে রোভার। এই বিশেষ মহাকাশযানে এক বিশেষ যন্ত্র রয়েছে, যার সাহায্যে মঙ্গলের বায়ুতে অক্সিজেন তৈরি করা যাবে। মঙ্গলের এই মিসনের সাথে যুক্ত রয়েছে চারজন ভারতীয় বংশোদ্ভূত বিজ্ঞানী। আবার এদের মধ্যে দুজন বাঙালি।
নাসা থেকে জানানো হয়েছে, ৯ বছর ধরে মঙ্গলেই থাকবে 'পারসিভিয়ারেন্স রোভার'।'পারসিভিয়ারেন্স রোভার'-র দুটি লম্বা লম্বা হাত রয়েছে, তাতে লাগানো হয়েছে ১৯ টি ক্যামেরা। মঙ্গলের মাটি থেকে সংগ্রহ করবে ৩০ ধরনের পাথর ও মাটির নমুনা। রোভারের অতরণের আগের মুহূর্ত অবধি টিভিতে নজর রেখেছিলেন, আমেরিকার প্রেসিডেন্ট জো বাইডেন। তিনি বিজ্ঞানীদের টুইট করে শুভেচ্ছা জানিয়েছেন।
