পশ্চিমবঙ্গে ঘূর্ণিঝড় ইয়াসের প্রভাব সেভাবে না থাকলেও, পূর্ণিমার ভরা কোটালের প্রভাবে নদীগুলি থেকে জল উপচে পড়েছে। সেই নদীর জলস্ফিতিতেই ভাসিয়ে দিল গোসাবাকে। গোসাবার সমস্ত বাঁধ ভেঙে জলমগ্ন বিডিও অফিসও।
আয়লা, ফণি, বুলবুল, আমফানের মতো ঘূর্ণিঝড় পর্যন্ত সেভাবে কোনো ক্ষতি করতে পারেনি গোসাবার। কিন্তু পূর্ণিমার ভরা কোটালের সঙ্গে ইয়াস মিশে তাণ্ডব করে দিয়েছে এলাকায়। সুন্দরবনের এই এলাকার মধ্যে ১৪ টি গ্রাম পঞ্চায়েত এলাকা ব্যাপকভাবে ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত হয়েছে। নদীর এই নোনা জল ঢুকে নষ্ট করেছে বিঘার পর বিঘা ফসল, সঙ্গে ব্লক প্রশাসন অর্থাৎ বিডিও অফিসেও ব্যাপক তান্ডব চালিয়েছে। অফিসের নিচের তলায় পঞ্চায়েত সমিতির সভাপতি অচিন পাইক ও সহকারি সহকারি সভাপতি কৈলাস বিশ্বাস যে ঘরে বসেন সেই ঘর জলে থইথই করছে। পাশাপাশি অন্যান্য ঘরগুলোতেও একই অবস্থা। সঙ্গে জলের ঝাপটায় উঠে এসেছে সাপ-ব্যাঙ সহ অন্যান্য পোকামাকড়। ফলে এই আতঙ্কে কেও অফিস যাচ্ছেন না।
ফলে আটকে গিয়েছে ত্রাণ ও পুনর্গঠনের কাজও। এই সমস্যার কথা জানান গোসাবার বিডিও সৌরভ মিত্র। তিনি বলেন, " ব্যাপক সমস্যার মুখে পড়তে হয়েছে ব্লক প্রশাসনকে। ব্লকের ভেতরের অবস্থা খারাপ থাকায় কোনওরকমে দোতলা থেকেই ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত এলাকার ওপরে নজর রেখে চলেছেন প্রশাসনিক কর্তারা।"
