রাইজিং বেঙ্গল ঢাকা ব্যুরো: ১, ৪৩, ০০০ বাঙ্গালীর প্রতিনিধি ১০০ জনের একটি মিছিল লন্ডনের রাজপথে মিছিল করে। তারা অবিলম্বে পৃথক রাষ্ট্র হিসেবে শেখ মুজিবের নেতৃত্ব এ বাংলাদেশকে স্বীকৃতি দেয়ার জন্য দাবী জানায়। তারা বিভিন্ন স্লোগান সম্বলিত প্ল্যাকার্ড বহন করে। পরে তাদের মধ্য হতে ১০ জনের একটি প্রতিনিধিদল বিভিন্ন দুতাবাসে স্মারকলিপি প্রদান করে। আন্দোলনের নেতৃত্ব দেন গাউস খান, আব্দুল মান্নান, আব্দুল হামিদ।
এর আগের দিন প্রবাসী বাঙ্গালীরা লন্ডনের অবস্থিত পাকিস্তান দুতাবাসের সামনে বিক্ষোভ প্রদর্শন করে। তারা পশ্চিম পাকিস্তানের শাসক ইয়াহিয়া খানের পদত্যাগ দাবী করে। আওয়ামী লীগ নেতা গাউস খান এলাহাবাদ হোটেলে বাঙ্গালীদের এক সভা আহবান করেন।
সভায় পাকিস্তান দুতাবাস দখল করে বাংলাদেশের পতাকা উত্তোলনের সিদ্ধান্ত গৃহীত হয়। কিন্তু পুলিশের বাধায় তা সম্ভব হয়নি। পুলিশ এখান থেকে এবিএম ইসহাক, ইব্রাহীম আলী, একরামুল হক, আব্দুস সামাদ, কাম্রুজ্জামান পাহ্লয়ান, লুতফর রহমান চৌধুরী, মাবুদ চৌধুরী, সেরাজুল হক, আবুল হাস্নাত সালেহ আহমেদ, নুরুদ্দিন, সাফিরুল হক নামে কয়েকজন আওয়ামী লীগ কর্মী গ্রেফতার হয়।
পরে বিচারে এবিএম ইসহাক, ইব্রাহীম আলীর ৬ সপ্তাহ কারাদণ্ড হয় বাকীদের জরিমানা হয়। পরে সিদ্ধান্ত হয় পাকিস্তান হাই কমিশনের সামনে বিক্ষোভ অর্থহীন তাই অন্য কর্মসূচী নেয়া হয়।
