স্থান: পূর্ববঙ্গের চাঁপাই নবাবগঞ্জের গোমস্তাপুর। এই গোমস্তাপুর থানার কাছেই হিন্দু অধ্যুষিত বাজারপাড়া গ্রাম, আর থানার পিছনেই মহানন্দা নদীর খাল। ঘটনাস্থলের ভৌগোলিক অবস্থিতি হলো ২৪.৫২ ডিগ্রি উত্তর এবং ৮৮.১৭ ডিগ্রি পূর্ব। ঘটনার দিন দুপুর ১২ টা নাগাদ গোমস্তাপুর থানার কাছে বাজারপাড়া এলাকা থেকে ৩১ জন স্থানীয় পুরুষকে ধরে নিয়ে আসে পাক হানাদার বাহিনী।

এক্ষেত্রেও তাদের সাহায্য করেছিল স্থানীয় রাজাকাররা। ওই সময় পাক বাহিনী গ্রামে ঢুকে গ্রামবাসীদের ওপর চরম নির্যাতন চালায়, চলে লুটপাট এবং সব শেষে পেট্রোল দিয়ে জ্বালিয়ে দেওয়া হয় গোটা গ্রাম। এরপর ধরে আনা ৩১ জন হিন্দু পুরুষকে নিয়ে যাওয়া হয় মহানন্দা নদীর তীরে।
সেখানে তাদের ১৫ ও ১৬ দুটি দলে ভাগ করে লাইন দিয়ে দাঁড় করানো হয়। প্রথমে ১৫ জনের দলকে এবং পরে ১৬ জনের দলের ওপর এরপর চলে রাইফেলের গুলি। এরপর দেহগুলিকে পেট্রোল ঢেলে জ্বালিয়ে দেওয়ার উদ্যোগ নেওয়া হয়।
সে কথা শুনেই আতঙ্কে লাফিয়ে ওঠেন এক গ্রামবাসী---অনিল কর্মকার। সঙ্গে সঙ্গে তাঁকে গুলি করে খুন করা হয়।
এভাবেই বাংলাদেশ মুক্তিযুদ্ধের সময় আরও একবার হিন্দুর রক্তে ভিজে ওঠে গোমস্তাপুরের মাটি।
