বিগত রবিবার ইউনাইটেড নেশনস কনফারেন্স অন ট্রেড এন্ড ডেভেলপমেন্ট (ইউ-এন-সি-টি-এ-ডি) যে তথ্য প্রকাশ করেছেন তার থেকে জানা যাচ্ছে বিগত ২০২০ সালে সারা বিশ্বে যখন বিদেশী প্রত্যক্ষ বিনিয়োগ (এফ-ডি-আই) শতকরা ৪২ ভাগ কমেছে তখন ভারতের চিত্র ছিল আশাব্যঞ্জক ভাবে অন্যরকম। প্রত্যক্ষ বিদেশী বিনিয়োগের সর্বাধিক পতন যে সমস্ত রাষ্ট্রে হয়েছে সেগুলি হল ইউনাইটেড স্টেটস অফ আমেরিকা, ইউনাইটেড কিংডম এবং রাশিয়া।
ওই বছরে ভারতে এফ-ডি-আই-এর বৃদ্ধি হয়েছে শতকরা ১৩ ভাগ। ভারতীয় অর্থনীতিতে এই বিদেশী প্রত্যক্ষ বিনিয়োগের সুফল সবচেয়ে বেশি পেয়েছে ডিজিটাল সেক্টর। এই বৃদ্ধি এসেছে বিশেষ করে একুইজিসিশন রুটে। সেই খাতে বৃদ্ধির হার ছিল শতকরা ৮৩ ভাগ এবং মোট বিনিয়োগের পরিমান ছিল ২৭ বিলিয়ান ডলার। এরমধ্যে শতকরা ১০ ভাগ এসেছে ফেসবুক কোম্পনির দ্বারা। যারা জিও প্লাটফর্মে ৫.৭ বিলিয়ন ডলার বিনিয়োগ করেছেন।
এই রকম অগ্রগতির চিত্র চীন দেশেও দেখা গিয়েছে। সেখানে বিদেশী প্রত্যক্ষ বিনিয়োগ হয়েছে ১৬৩ বিলিয়ন ডলার। ওয়াল স্ট্রিট জার্নালে প্রতিবেদন অনুযায়ী চীন দেশ আমেরিকাকেও টপকে গিয়ে ব্যবসা বাণিজ্যের বহু ক্ষেত্রে প্রত্যক্ষ বিদেশী বিনিয়োগ অধিক পরিমানে আকর্ষণ করে নিচ্ছে।
