বাংলাদেশের অনন্য প্রত্নতাত্ত্বিক নিদর্শন দিনাজপুরের কান্তজিউ মন্দির
রাইজিং বেঙ্গল ঢাকা ব্যুরো: বাংলাদেশের উত্তরাঞ্চলের জেলা দিনাজপুর শহর থেকে ২১ কিলোমিটার দূরে কাহারোল থানার কান্তনগর গ্রামে অবস্থিত অনন্য প্রত্নতাত্ত্বিক নিদর্শন কান্তজিউ মন্দির। অনেকের মতে কান্তনগরে স্থাপিত বলে এর নামকরণ করা হয় কান্তজিউ মন্দির। জনশ্রুতি আছে, শ্রী-কৃষ্ণের বিগ্রহ অধিষ্ঠানের জন্য এই মন্দির নির্মিত হয়েছিল। দিনাজপুরের তৎকালীন জমিদার প্রাণনাথ রায় ১৭২২ খ্রিস্টাব্দে পোড়ামাটির অলঙ্করণ সমৃদ্ধ এই মন্দিরটির নির্মাণ কাজ সূচনা করেন। তবে তিনি তার জীবদ্দশায় এই মন্দিরের নির্মাণ কাজ শেষ করে যেতে পারেন নি। পরে ১৭৫২ খ্রিস্টাব্দে তারই পালক পুত্র রামনাথ রায় এই মন্দিরের নির্মাণ কাজ শেষ করেন।
স্থাপত্য রীতি, গঠন বিন্যাস, শিল্পচাতুর্য মন্দিরটির সামগ্রিক দৃশ্যকে এতই মাধুর্যমণ্ডিত করে তুলেছে যে এর চেয়ে সুন্দর, নয়নাভিরাম মন্দির বাংলাদেশে দ্বিতীয়টি নেই বললে অত্যুক্তি হবে না। শৈল্পিক বিশ্লেষণে প্রায় ৩ ফুট উঁচু এবং ৬০ ফুট বাহু বিশিষ্ট প্রচ্চর নির্মিত বর্গাকৃতি সমান্তরাল জায়গার উপর এই মন্দির দণ্ডায়মান। সৌধ পরিকল্পনায় মন্দিরটি তিনটি (৩) ধাপে নির্মিত।
সামগ্রিক দৃষ্টিতে মন্দিরটি দেখতে বহুলাংশে সুবৃহৎ রথের মতো। তিনতলা বিশিষ্ট এবং বর্গাকারে নির্মিত মন্দিরের প্রত্যেক বাহুর দৈর্ঘ্য ৫২ ফুট এবং উচ্চতা ৭০ ফুট। ১৮৯৭ সালের ভূমিকম্পে কিছু অংশ ভেঙে যাওয়ায় উপরের গম্বুজ ঘরের আকৃতি ধারণ করেছে। ভূমিকম্পে ভেঙে যাওয়ার আগে গম্বুজের উপরে ৯টি সুদৃশ্য চুড়া ছিল।
মন্দিরের বেদির নিচে এবং দেয়ালের গায়ে পোড়ামাটি খচিত প্রায় লক্ষাধিক ছবি রয়েছে। পৌরণিক চিত্র সংবলিত টেরাকোটা ছাড়াও মন্দিরের দেয়ালের বিভিন্ন স্থানে বিভিন্ন মূর্তির টেরাকোটাও রয়েছে। কান্তজিউ মন্দিরের ঐতিহ্য অনুযায়ী প্রতি বছর রাস পূর্ণিমায় এখানে বসে পক্ষকালব্যাপী মেলা।
দিনাজপুর শহরের কেন্দ্রীয় বাস স্টেশন থেকে পীরগঞ্জের বাসে কান্তনগর নামতে হবে। সেখানে নেমে ঢেপা নদী পার হয়ে একটু সামনেই মন্দিরটি। শীতের সময় নদী শুকিয়ে গেলে পায়ে হেঁটে পার হতে পারলেও বর্ষায় কিন্তু নৌকায় পার হতে হবে।
