১৭ মে শেখ হাসিনার স্বদেশ প্রত্যাবর্তন দিবস
রাইজিং বেঙ্গল ঢাকা ব্যুরো: আজ ১৭ই মে। ১৯৮১ সালের এই দিনে ছয় বছর নির্বাসিত জীবন কাটিয়ে দেশে ফিরেন বাংলাদেশ আওয়ামী লীগের সভাপতি এবং গণপ্রজাতন্ত্রী বাংলাদেশ সরকারের প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনা। দেশে ফিরে আওয়ামী লীগকে নেতৃত্ব দেয়ার দায়িত্ব নেন বঙ্গবন্ধু কন্যা। এরপর থেকে টানা দলের দায়িত্ব পালন করে আসছেন।
১৯৭৫ সালের ১৫ই আগস্ট ইতিহাসের নৃশংসতম হত্যাকাণ্ডে বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমানকে সপরিবারে হত্যা করে ঘাতকের দল। বিদেশে থাকায় সৌভাগ্যক্রমে বেঁচে যান দু’ বোন শেখ হাসিনা ও শেখ রেহানা। বঙ্গবন্ধু হত্যাকাণ্ডের পর নানামুখী ষড়যন্ত্র শুরু করে ঘাতকগোষ্ঠী। বাঙালি জাতির জীবনে জগদ্দল পাথরের মতো চেপে বসে ঘোর অমানিশার অন্ধকার।
ঠিক এমনি ক্রান্তিলগ্নে ১৯৮১ সালের ১৪, ১৫, ও ১৬ই ফেব্রুয়ারিতে অনুষ্ঠিত আওয়ামী লীগের জাতীয় কাউন্সিলে বঙ্গবন্ধুকন্যা শেখ হাসিনার অনুপস্থিতিতে তাকে সংগঠনের সভাপতি নির্বাচিত করা হয়। ডাক আসে দেশ-মাতৃকার মুক্তির সংগ্রামে নেতৃত্ব দেয়ার। তৎকালীন সামরিক শাসকদের রক্তচক্ষু ও নিষেধাজ্ঞা উপেক্ষা করে ১৯৮১ সালের ১৭ই মে দেশে ফিরে আসেন শেখ হাসিনা।
সেদিন রাজধানী ঢাকা মিছিলের নগরীতে পরিণত হয়। সকাল থেকে মধ্যরাত পর্যন্ত ঢাকা শহর মিছিল আর স্লোগানে প্রকম্পিত হয়। প্রচণ্ড ঝড়-বৃষ্টি উপেক্ষা করে লাখো মানুষের মিছিল দেশের মাটিতে স্বাগত জানায় শেখ হাসিনাকে। কুর্মিটোলা আন্তর্জাতিক বিমান বন্দর ও শেরেবাংলা নগর পরিণত হয় জনসমুদ্রে।
বঙ্গবন্ধুকন্যা শেখ হাসিনাকে এক নজর দেখতে সেদিন সারা বাংলাদেশের মানুষের গন্তব্য ছিল রাজধানী ঢাকা। নেতাকর্মীদের মুখে বজ্রনিনাদে ঘোষিত হয়েছিল ‘হাসিনা তোমায় কথা দিলাম-পিতৃ হত্যার বদলা নেব’। ‘শেখ হাসিনার আগমন, শুভেচ্ছা স্বাগতম’।
লাখো মানুষের উষ্ণ অভ্যর্থনার জবাবে শেখ হাসিনা বলেন, আমি আওয়ামী লীগের নেত্রী হওয়ার জন্য আসিনি। আপনাদের বোন হিসাবে, মেয়ে হিসাবে, বঙ্গবন্ধুর আদর্শে বিশ্বাসী আওয়ামী লীগের কর্মী হিসাবে আপনাদের পাশে থাকতে চাই।
