রাইজিং বেঙ্গল ঢাকা ব্যুরো: অবশেষে সূচনা হচ্ছে বঙ্গবন্ধু নবম বাংলাদেশ গেমসের। বাংলাদেশের ২৯টি ভেন্যুতে ৫ হাজার ৩০০ অ্যাথলেট ৩১টি ডিসিপ্লিনে মোট ৩৭৮টি সোনার লড়াইয়ে অংশ নিচ্ছেন এইবারের আসরে। আগামী বৃহস্পতিবার (১ এপ্রিল) রাজধানী ঢাকার বঙ্গবন্ধু জাতীয় স্টেডিয়ামে ভার্চুয়ালি প্রতিযোগিতার শুভ উদ্বোধন করবেন বাংলাদেশের প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনা। এরপর আগামী ১০ এপ্রিল পর্দা নামবে আসরের।
রোববার (২৮ মার্চ) বাংলাদেশ অলিম্পিক অ্যাসোসিয়েশনে (বিওএ) প্রতিযোগিতার বিস্তারিত তুলে ধরেন গেমসের আয়োজকরা। ইতিপূর্বে গত বছরের এপ্রিল মাসে মাঠে গড়ানোর কথা ছিল প্রতিযোগিতাটির। কিন্তু বৈশ্বিক মহামারি (কভিড-১৯) করোনা ভাইরাসের প্রাদুর্ভাবের কারণে তা স্থগিত করা হয়। তবে প্রায় এক বছর পিছিয়ে গেলেও প্রতিযোগিতার নামের সঙ্গে ‘২০২০’ -ই রাখা হচ্ছে বলে জানিয়েছেন বঙ্গবন্ধু নবম বাংলাদেশ গেমসের আয়োজকরা।
পাশাপাশি দেশে হঠাৎ করেই করোনা পরিস্থিতির অবনতি হওয়ার প্রেক্ষিতে ভেন্যুগুলোতে অ্যাথলেট ও কর্মকর্তাদের জন্য পর্যাপ্ত নিরাপত্তা ব্যবস্থা রাখার কথা জানিয়েছেন বিওএর মহাসচিব সৈয়দ শাহেদ রেজা। তিনি আরও বলেন, কোভিড-১৯ প্রতিরোধে আয়োজক কমিটির সদস্য, সশস্ত্র বাহিনী, বিভিন্ন হাসপাতাল, কুর্মিটোলা গলফ ও বিভাগীয় শহরের সিভিল সার্জনদের নিয়ে কমিটি গঠন করা হয়েছে। তারা ভেন্যুতে থেকে প্রয়োজনীয় ব্যবস্থা গ্রহণ করবেন।
বঙ্গবন্ধু বাংলাদেশ গেমসের স্টিয়ারিং কমিটির চেয়ারম্যান শেখ বশির আহমেদ জানান, অ্যাথলেট ও গেমস সংশ্লিষ্টদের জন্য ভেন্যুগুলোতে তিন ধাপের সুরক্ষা ব্যবস্থা রাখা হবে।
